CLOWN CAR

This 10-page horror short is the result of two-plus years of comics-making work. I first discovered Ross Radke’s work on the Millarworld Forums, where he was looking for collaborators for some short projects. I happened to have a short script in the works about ghost clowns and a haunted car, and the opportunity seemed too good to pass up! The length of the comic itself has remained short, even if the incubation and development has gone a bit longer than originally anticipated. (Still, I feel like it was all worth the wait!)

Ross’s work was already pretty fantastic when we first connected, but he just gets better and better with every subsequent draft and iteration of a page. He’s a thoughtful and dynamic creative partner/collaborator to boot. He asks questions and pushed me creatively. His art and care for the story helped me to refine my own writing, boiling things down to their most effective essence.

And at the end of this collaborative journey, Ross came through, stepped up, swung for the fences, etc., with colors that add an extra dimension of creepiness (by way of a neon nightmare climax) to the story. With the always-wonderful and delightfully professional Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou providing the essential finishing touches on the lettering front to bring our scary tale home. I’m incredibly proud of the work we all did here, and I’m excited to share it with all of you.

So, hop on in. There’s always room for more.
